Easy Jamaican Jerk Seitan "Chicken"

Ingredients

  • 1 recipe Crispy Seitan Bites or store-bought seitan
  • 1 tbsp corn starch
  • 125 mL orange juice
  • 1.5 tbsp maple syrup or agave
  • 1.5 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 thai chili pepper, seeded and finely chopped
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 1 tbsp Jamaican Jerk seasoning
  • 1 bell peppers, sliced
  • 1/2 red onion, sliced
  • rice optional, for serving
  • cilantro optional, for serving

Instructions

  • Dissolve the cornstarch in 2-3 tbsp of water in a small bowl or glass. Then add in the orange juice, maple syrup or agave, soy sauce, chili pepper, lime juice, and Jamaican Jerk seasoning. Whisk well.
  • Heat a frying pan to medium heat and then add in Crispy Seitan Bites. Pour sauce over and stir so that every piece is coated.
  • Reduce heat to medium and allow the sauce to simmer and thicken for 1 to 2 minutes.
  • At this step, you can either add the peppers and onions in or sautee them separately.
  • Ready to serve over rice, in a lettuce wrap, in a tortilla, or however you'd like! Add cilantro for a finishing touch.
